About
I am a working-class artist from Barnsley, South Yorkshire England. Working in my community on creative well-being projects. I studied fine art in my fifties, launching my freelance career and becoming a community arts officer in Barnsley, for the museum's services. Art has saved me in many ways. It's not a thing I do, it's what I am through and through.
Mission
My mission is to create an all inclusive art movement in Barnsley. Shining a spotlight on social issues in my community. Making us think through art, and work out how to make a change for the better. Giving a voice to the voiceless and a platform for others. I love nothing better than a reaction of someone unexpectedly getting their art work displayed publicly.
Vision
I have a vision of Barnsley becoming a place of arts and culture for all, the place to visit in the North. Keeping the old and the new in cinema and theatre, A place of performing arts as well as visual arts. I would love to create a community inter generational art centre, a place to be and belong through creativity.
